Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then located many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.
An important representative stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
